A Personal Update and Important Planning Notes for 2026
As 2025 rapidly comes to a close and we approach the new year, I want to share some exciting personal news and outline a few important updates to our planning calendar for 2026.
The boss (is that me or Melinda?) is giving me a summer sabbatical!
Years ago, I went through an exercise to define my “true purpose for money”. That exercise succinctly revealed my true purpose for money to be “Family”. As a firm we talk about “aligning values, vision and wealth”; it’s not just a tag line. In the light of those two ideas, here’s the adventure:
Next summer, I’ll be taking an extended leave to pursue a family adventure; one that aims to create shared experiences, embrace challenges, and encourage my children to dream big, audacious dreams.
The Goal: The entire Smith Family will attempt to complete a self-supported transcontinental journey by bike!
Crazy, right?!
While I will be out of the office for several weeks, our team will continue to be fully available to support you. I will remain accessible on a limited, as-needed basis for urgent matters.
I have full confidence that our team will continue to deliver the high-quality service and care you expect from us.
To help ensure a smooth experience for everyone, there are a few important scheduling notes for the coming year:
Adjusting review schedules.
For clients whose annual strategy meetings normally occur in the summer months, our team will be in touch early next year to adjust timing as appropriate — either before my departure or after my return — to ensure your planning remains on track.Temporary pause on new clients.
To maintain our service standards while I’m away, we will be temporarily suspending new client engagements after January 31, 2026. We anticipate reopening to new relationships in the last quarter of 2026.
If you know someone who has been considering reaching out for financial guidance or a second opinion, now is the time to introduce them — we’d love to connect before the pause.Continued support.
While I’ll be physically away, I’m not disappearing! Living at this time in history given our technological services, I’ll remain available for occasional check-ins and urgent issues. And rest assured, your dedicated team will handle the day-to-day support during my absence.
More details will follow in the months ahead, including ways to follow along and even participate virtually in this family adventure.
As always, I’m deeply grateful for your continued trust and partnership. It’s a privilege to help you align your own values, vision, and wealth — and to live that mission personally as well.
Warm regards,
Craig Smith, CFP®, CFA®, CKA®
